Things You Can Do

Choice Action Team

Get involved with a local Choice Action Team (CAT) or start one in your community and become a leader of the issue of choice. As a Choice Action Team member, you will on a variety of fun and meaningful pro-choice projects that actively support NPCO’s mission. CAT members agree to become regular, committed volunteers for a two-year period. The specific time commitment required is three to five hours per month, but that can include the CAT’s monthly meeting (usually between one and two hours).

Teen Choice Action Team

Do you want to hang out with cool, pro-choice teenagers and get involved in learning about the pro-choice movement? The Teen Choice Action Team is looking for new members to get involved this fall 2010! Contact Gwende Silver to find out more about this opportunity to impact social change in your community!

Campus Choice Action Teams

If you’re a college student wanting to get involved in engaging the campus community in the pro-choice movement then joining a C-CAT is right for you. Join an existing group at PSU, Lewis and Clark, Reed College, U of O or start one of your own.

Become a NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon member

Show your support for a woman's right to choose by becoming a member of NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon. As a member you will receive our newsletter as well as information about what is happening with choice in your area. If you are already a member, please consider recruiting a friend to become a member or donating to our other entities such as the Oregon Foundation for Reproductive Health or our Political Action Committee (PAC). After 4 hours of volunteering, you automatically become a member!

Unite and Write! Join our team of Reproductive Rights Writers

Throughout the year we need volunteers to write letters to the editors about important issues that are happening with choice. Letters to the editors are easy and fun to write. We provide you with all the material you need to write a letter and information on where to send it. The best part is that you can see your name in the paper when it is published!

In-Office Activists

Volunteer, Drink a Beer, Activist Night!

Every 2^nd and 4^th Wednesday of the Month is Activist Night at

the NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon office. Activities will vary by week but the evening will include food, fun, and a special project that will help to defend the right to choose! If you are interested in attending an evening of pro-active fun, contact us today!

Mailings Make the Difference!

We need a little help from our friends. We have several pieces of mail that we send out each week and your help will make all the difference. If you have a Wednesday evening free, come on in! We are labeling, stamping, stuffing, and making a difference in our community!

Data Entry, Data Entry, and MORE Data Entry!

Our petition season is on-going. This means we have a HUGE need for on-going data entry help all year. The best things about volunteering to help us with data entry is that the times you can come in are very flexible AND you can come in for as much or as little time as you’d like.

Join us to make EBC available in your community….

Did you know that a pharmacist in Oregon cannot refuse to dispense EBC to you without giving another option for dispensation? Help us make sure that EBC is available and that women are getting accurate information about this essential medication. Political Activists

Join us during the 2010 legislative session to ensure the candidates we’ve elected to protect reproductive rights are doing just that.

Event Volunteers and Event Planning Team

Believe it or not, it is already time to begin preparing for our annual Choice Celebration Gala, our grandest political event of the year. We are looking for a few dedicated volunteers to commit to one 2-3 hour shift in the office any day Monday through Friday between the hours of 10:30 AM and 5:00pm. Event Volunteers will help with mailings, phoning and tracking procurement.

Are you interested in reaching out to friends, neighbors, and families about Choice but you’re not into the big, fancy fundraiser? Help NPCO plan a field event that’s laid-back, fun, and creative. We can host movie nights at local pubs and theaters, BBQ’s, or even supper-clubs. The ideas are aplenty we’re just looking for a few special volunteers to get it off the ground.

Petitioning/Tabling at Events

Do you like talking to people about why you are pro-choice? We’re looking to extend our tabling season beyond the summer street fairs and we need awesome pro-choice activists to talk to people about the great things going on at NARAL, to hand out condoms and sell buttons and t-shirts. You won’t be alone, the more the merrier!

Host a House Party for Choice!

Throughout the year, pro-choice individuals can invite guests to their homes to participate in a personal discussion about Choice with NPCO staff and special speakers like state legislators and county commissioners. Guests can learn about reproductive rights issues in a comfortable and social setting. They can also become NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon members on the spot!

This is our email action alert system that keeps you updated on the ever present anti-choice threats. It also keeps you informed about volunteer actions and choice events in your area.
