Reproductive HealthIssues of reproductive health extend well beyond access to safe, legal abortions. With improvements in sexual education and access to contraception, fewer teenagers are giving birth than in the past. While many positive changes have been made towards ensuring all women and men access to the sexual health services they need, there is still work to be done. Below, you can read about current impediments to choice: Crisis Pregnancy Centers have sprung up across the country as a source of anti-choice propaganda targeting women faced with unwanted pregnancy; the FDA recently approved a vaccine for HPV, the leading cause of ovarian cancer, but many conservatives want to deny young women the vaccination because they argue it would encourage promiscuity; federal budget cuts mean thousands of Washington citizens may be denied access to family planning services; and clinic violence has reduced access to reproductive healthcare.
