Walgreens in Mississippi and Texas Deny Emergency Contraception to Males
Walgreens pharmacies in Texas and Mississippi have been turning away men who are trying to purchase emergency contraception for their female partners. Emergency contraception is approved to be sold to both men and women 17 and older behind the counter by the FDA. Emergency contraception is most effective the sooner it is used, and is recommended within the first 72 hours, so it is crucial that a customer can get access as soon as it is needed. After an immense amount of outcry from the public Walgreen’s has issued a bulletin to all of their pharmacies nationwide stating that contraception is to be sold to both male and female customers age 17 and older. The bulletin also made it clear that a male customer need not be “accompanied by a female, and does not need to identify the individual for whom he is purchasing the product.” (Source: RH Reality Check) Read the full article HERE
