FDA IGNORES PRO-CHOICE MESSAGES; DELAYS DECISION ON APPROVAL OF EC OVER-THE-COUNTER Leaders of NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon announced that more than 800 Oregonians sent a direct message to the Food and Drug Administration asking the agency to approve greater access for women to the “morning-after pill,” an emergency contraceptive that significantly reduces a woman’s chance of becoming pregnant after sex or sexual assault.
Despite their efforts, the FDA has once again bowed to the pressure of the Bush Administration in delaying their decision on over-the-counter access to this safe, effective pregnancy prevention pill.
